Welcome back!

Just to give a quick recap on the “Rethinking Recruitment ft. Social Media: The LinkedIn Effect”, we discussed how the Social platforms are helpful in the hiring process & a brief overview of LinkedIn. If you haven’t read the article, click here. Now, Let’s find what’s in there with the other recruitment tools which are also quite handy.

Recruitment Sites & Platforms to Look for…

In India, a few traditional Job-Boards like Naukri, Monster, Shine, Times Jobs etc., which act as aggregators to apply for jobs online, are still popular. They are still effective since they established a tie-up with many Corporate firms. With some additional perks like providing resume services, job campaign emails, etc., these web portals are making a jobseeker’s approach much easier. This in turn makes a recruiter’s task simpler in recruiting candidates for the open positions.

Job boards were de-facto for both companies as well as job applicants in India. Considering the high volume of job seekers in India, this is still the preferred medium for entry level jobs.

While the job boards did address the problems to a certain extent, they soon turned into walled gardens, hampering the way the users accessed data on their platforms. This walled garden approach caused companies and recruiters to start looking at social platforms like Twitter, FB, Instagram to improve their reach and visibility.

Leveraging these networking platforms will help recruiters to find the right candidates faster. In fact in the absence of LinkedIn, tools like Facebook & Twitter hold the credits as they had a better mouse trap those days. Still, the former tools along with Instagram have a great value for pooling in the candidates as per the requirements.

With the advertisement tools across all platforms, one can promote a job opening much effectively and source the suitable profiles. These 3 arenas compliment each other, assists in reaching a wider base of potential candidates & acts as an efficient marketing tool.

What are the benefits if I recruit via Social Media?

  • All databases can be maintained under one roof, no ‘mix & match’ required.
  • Increase in Speed & Accuracy of work. Saves time for the recruiters.
  • Gives the candidates an opportunity to proactively market themselves to the employers and vice-versa.
  • Quality of decision can be highly reflected through each hire as social media provides the benefit of exploring each profile deeper.
  • Enhanced relationships between a recruiter and candidate can be established with proper understanding.
